Homework 4 — Survivability and Mission Planning#

IndividualDue at the start of Lesson 4110 questions

HW4 is an individual homework with one question for each Block 4 lesson, in three parts. Part 1 covers the survival metric and the threat map: the kill chain split into susceptibility and vulnerability, survival across encounters with additive risk and the per-km hazard, the radar horizon against the R⁴ law, and the MEZ against the LEZ. Part 2 covers information, routes and tracking: a two-sensor CRLB with its PDOP, Dijkstra on −ln(1 − p) edge costs, the weight and fuel trade, and one EKF bearing update with the bearings-only observability conditions. Part 3 covers the support package and the navigation threat: stand-off burn-through in the mainlobe and the sidelobes, and a GPS denial radius with the INS error it leaves. Most questions have two or three boxed answers, a mix of numbers and short calls (a lever label, a route, observable or not), graded binary with one resubmission per question (blank answers don’t qualify). These are the Final Project’s calculations done once by hand, with notional numbers of their own.

Working the homework before L41 is the best possible Quiz 4 preparation: together with the pre-flights and the Final Project, it exercises everything the quiz asks.

Submit per the instructions in the PDF. Due at the start of class at L41, alongside the Final Project.

Late policy: coordinate with the instructor at least 24 hours before the deadline. Non-coordinated late submissions receive a zero, and that zero cannot be recovered by resubmission.
