The Engineering Method#

What is the engineering method? A systematic, iterative process used to develop solutions to engineering problems.
What is the first step in the engineering method? Clearly defining the problem to be solved.
What does it mean to define an engineering problem? To identify the desired outcome, requirements, and constraints of the system.
What are requirements in an engineering problem? Specific, measurable criteria that a solution must satisfy.
What are constraints in an engineering problem? Limitations such as cost, size, weight, power, schedule, or environmental conditions.
Why is analysis a key step in the engineering method? It allows engineers to predict system behavior and evaluate solutions before building them.
What is the purpose of modeling and simulation? To represent real systems mathematically or computationally for analysis and prediction.
What is a prototype? A preliminary version of a system built to test and validate design assumptions.
Why is testing essential in the engineering method? To verify that a solution meets requirements and performs as intended.
Why is the engineering method considered iterative? Because testing and evaluation often require refining or redesigning the solution.
